Amanda is in Mexico with her mother and I am home from work with the kids. While the older one was at kindergarten and the younger one napped, I reworked yesterday's post into a "letter to the editor."
To the editor:
Pat Anderson, author of "The utter folly of 'taxing the rich'" (February 23), shows she has studied the "Tax" section of the Republican platform. Her lines might seem less palpably memorized had she taken any account of some rather obvious things that could be said on the other side of the argument. Like the fact that President Clinton's economic program, which included a tax hike on high earners, did not prove to be a jobs killer. Like the fact that the tax-cutting policies of the Bushies did not slide us along a rainbow arc landing in a pool of milk and honey.
It's not just in religion that the Republicans are fundamentalist. They saw only black and white when the bright world sped past them.--Eric Jorgenson
