The movie includes historical footage and on-camera interviews with principals, thereby suggesting that the made-up parts also really happened. And, yes, Frost interviewed Nixon. The movie, however, tells something like a redemption story. Frost, the frivolous playboy and pop culture Brit TV host, is going to be used by Nixon to line his pockets and effect his historical rehabilitation. The plan appears to be working, but then, at the last moment, when all appears lost, a drunk Nixon places a phone call to Frost, who gains a sudden insight and, now engaged, pulls a few consecutive all-night work sessions and then "gets Nixon" in the last interview.
Sure.
