The film is regarded as one of the great noir mysteries. Here's a few things that mystify me.
1. Why is the newspaper columnist, whose love for Laura drives him to murder, played as a mincing homosexual? If he's so gay, why did he fall so hard for her?
2. Why would anyone fall so hard for her? If the movie is going to be named for Laura, shouldn't the part be played by someone who isn't lost?
3. I love how the principal suspects are allowed to tag along as the detective does his thing. Except for Gene Tierney's Laura, who only aspires to be a cartoon, the characters are all cartoons, and the entire situation is wildly implausible. So why did I enjoy it?
