We're in the middle of season two. I don't doubt that those were the styles and decors, but could people really drink that much and remain standing? Be that promiscuous and remain married? That pregnant and not know it?
Maybe the critical term is "magical realism."
Oh, that Don Draper, he doesn't say much, so you know he is deep, always staring out at nothing as the camera studies him from behind. So many thoughts, so few words. If I were him, pensively surveying the scene through a haze of alcohol and cigarette smoke, the words in my thought bubble would be: "My wife is really hot!" But, no, he is thinking of calling Kodak's circular picture holder "the carousel."
What a genius! And a fine series, too. Don't watch if you recently quit smoking.
