A nervous, grieving nation turns its eyes to President Trump and learns, for example, that capital punishment will address the problem of massacres at the mall, bar, synagogue, kindergarten, country western concert, garlic festival, etc. Pretty sure the shooters expect to die while executing the slaughter but, sure, the prospect of a lethal injection after the trial will get them to call it off.
Trump was reading from a teleprompter prepared remarks that included such English language jewels as: "Mental illness and hatred pulls the trigger, not the gun." He couldn't even identify one of Saturday's stricken cities correctly. Dayton, Toledo—both in Ohio, both spelled with six letters. It's very confusing!
Here's a picture of a guy at maybe not the safest Starbucks in America. He should have been at the Walmart in El Paso on Saturday. I'm sure things would have been different then. Not! The unpictured customers laboring over their film scripts at corner tables have a comparatively firm grasp on reality. Any of them could probably tell you that it's not mental health or video games or the Internet or the law's delay in carrying out the death penalty. It's guns.
