Has anyone supplied a plausible account of what President Trump thinks the Bidens did that ought to be investigated by the Chinese government? On the White House lawn, when he first urged China to swing into action against an American who coincidentally is the Democratic presidential candidate farthest ahead of him in the polls, Trump said:
Biden's son walks out of China with $1.5 billion in a fund, and the biggest funds in the world can't get money out of China, and he's there for one quick meeting and he flies in on Air Force Two, I think that's a horrible thing. I think it's a horrible thing.
Something is "horrible" and it involves—$1.5 billion? Air Force Two? Something. The charge relating to Ukraine is comparatively coherent. The younger Biden was getting paid $50,000 per month to work at this Ukrainian energy firm. Ivanka's daddy says he wasn't qualified. Investigate! Corruption must be rooted out! But considering that, in the world according to Trump, Biden fils left China with $1.5 billion, the president's determination to sic the Ukrainians on him betrays a faulty sense of scale. At $50k per month, it would take Biden 2500 years to realize what I guess he air lifted out of China one day on Air Force Two under uncertain circumstances.
"It's called a payoff," said the president, clarifying.
